Hamilton Police Investigate Arson

Hamilton Police continue investigation into a residential fire as an arson.

On Monday, December 5, 2022, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded to a residential fire on Burton Street. A family with young children were asleep within the residence at the time the house caught fire.

The suspect set fire to a front wooden porch and contents. 

The suspect vehicle and suspect are described as;

Suspect

  • Light hooded jacket or hoody
  • Darker coloured pants

Vehicle

  • 2015-2020 Ford F150, 4 door silver in colour
  • Tinted windows
  • Silver front grill
  • Black wheel rims
  • Front licence plate fixed to the front passenger side

A neighbour extinguished the fire and alerted the residents of the home.  Without the assistance of this person the fire could have resulted in a tragedy.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance with reviewing home video surveillance and onboard dash cam video from Monday, December 5 at 3:20 a.m. to 3:40 a.m. in the area of Victoria Avenue to Burton Street, Burton Street to Wentworth Street North and along Wentworth Street North.
