Wanted Shoplifter Nabbed with Nearly $500 in Groceries

A 23-year-old Hamilton woman has been arrested after attempting to steal nearly $500 in groceries. During the investigation, police learned the female had an extensive background related to theft incidents. As well police identified two court orders from previous offences committed and an arrest warrant by a neighbouring police service.

On Monday, March 18, 2019, shortly before 2:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a grocery store in the area of Kenora Avenue and Delawana Drive. At that time, Loss Prevention Officers had a female under arrest after she attempted to steal groceries valued just under $500. The investigation revealed the female was bound by two court orders as well a warrant for her arrest existed with a neighbouring police service involving several theft-related charges.

The female was taken into police custody and will appear in court today to answer to the Hamilton Police criminal charges. Upon her release, she will be turned over to the neighbouring police service.
