Fatal Industrial Accident Investigated at National Steel Car

A 51-year-old employee of National Steel Car was pronounced deceased yesterday evening after an industrial accident. The Ministry of Labour continues to investigate the incident.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a workplace accident at National Steel Car, 602 Kenilworth Avenue North. Initial information provided to police stated a male employee was struck by a large metal item that he was working on.

Hamilton Police have confirmed the cause of the accident was not criminal in nature. As such the police investigation has been concluded.

The Ministry of Labour was contacted and subsequently attended. They continue to investigate the incident.

The 51-year-old employee succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The next of kin notification was carried out by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
