Fifth Arrest Made in Ferguson Avenue Homicide

Hamilton Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth wanted for the 2nd degree murder of 38-year-old Danielle Strauss of Hamilton.

On Thursday, November 10, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police responded to 195 Ferguson Avenue North in Hamilton for reports of a deceased 38-year-old female who was found in her apartment. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. Police believe Danielle died late Sunday evening or early Monday morning. 

On December 31, 2022, Homicide detectives were made aware that the 16-year-old was enroute back to Canada from Czcehia. He was arrested without incident at Pearson International Airport later that day.  

Hamilton Police Service would like to thank our law enforcement partners for their assistance with this case, as it relates to the youth accused who fled to Czechia.  This includes Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), RCMP Interpol services, Global Affairs Canada and the Peel Regional Police Service.

The youth had a brief court appearance and has been remanded into custody. 

The cause of death is not being released as it remains evidence. Given the age of the suspects and the fact the case is before the courts, additional information will not be shared.
