Hamilton Police Arrest Male in Gordon Street Shooting

Hamilton Police have arrested and charged 24-year-old Mohd Amiri in relation to the shooting of a seven-year-old boy on Gordon Street in January 2020.

On January 23, 2020, at 7:53 p.m, Hamilton Police were dispatched to a residence for reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find a seven-year-old child who was injured as a result of multiple gunshots into the house from the rear yard area.

Those involved in the shooting fled from the scene in a vehicle that was waiting on Gordon Street. The vehicle has been identified but the firearm involved has not been recovered.

The child was treated in hospital and released, however, he still receives medical care as a result of the injuries sustained.

Mohd Amiri faces the following charges:

  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
