Hamilton Police Investigate a Damaged Vehicle Resulting in the Arrest of the Driver

Hamilton Police observed a Mazda MX6 vehicle in the area of Deerhurst Road and Hemlock Ave with damage to a wheel. Police attempted to investigate however the driver refused to stop. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled to a residence. The K9 unit was called in and the driver was located, arrested and charged with several offences.

On Saturday April 14, 2018 shortly before 5:30 p.m. Hamilton Police observed a copper coloured Mazada MX6 at the intersection of Deerhurst Road and Hemlock Avenue. Police noted the rear driver’s side wheel was not turning as the vehicle proceeded forward. A traffic stop was attempted however the driver failed to stop. In the interest of public safety, police discontinued following the vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle was recovered, abandoned in the area of Norwich Road South and Cedardale Avenue. With the assistance of the K9 Unit, the driver was located hiding in a nearby residence.

Tyler McMath, 19 years of Oakville

Charges:

  • Flight from Police
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply Recognizance X2

He was held for a Bail Hearing.
