Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit investigating Hamilton's 2nd Homicide of the year.

On Monday, April 15, 2019, at approximately 7:35 pm, Hamilton Police responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Patterson Rd and Wesley Rd in Dundas. A single motor vehicle had been reported to have left the roadway and landed in the forested area. Hamilton Police patrol units quickly responded and located a lone male deceased in the vehicle. Hamilton EMS and Fire responded to the scene to attempt life-saving measures, however, the male was pronounced deceased on scene.

Based on evidence at the scene, the male victim, 17 yrs, had sustained injuries inconsistent with a motor vehicle collision. Witnesses reported observing 3 males fleeing the area. Additional patrol units quickly attended the area. They located three males matching descriptions provided by the witnesses. These males were subsequently arrested a short distance from the scene. The major crime unit was called into to investigate.

Although the investigation is in its infancy, three male youths have been arrested and will be charged later today with 1st Degree Murder at the John Sopinka Courthouse. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and the public is not at risk. Investigators are not seeking any more suspects at this time.

Cause of death remains under investigation by the coroner. An autopsy will be performed later this morning.
