Hamilton Police Seek Witnesses to Ancaster Homicide

Hamilton Police are appealing for witnesses to the overnight homicide on Sunflower Crescent, Ancaster.

On Thursday, September 13, 2018, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 32 Sunflower Crescent, Ancaster.

Upon arrival, Police and Paramedics located a 50-year-old male from Hamilton on the premises suffering from a gunshot injury. Efforts to save his life were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit are now leading the investigation. The area around 32 Sunflower Crescent has been secured to allow forensic identification officers to process the scene. A canvass of the neighbourhood will also be conducted to identify witnesses and any surveillance video that may assist with the investigation.

An autopsy will be conducted on Friday, September 14, 2018. The name of the deceased will not be released until family members have been notified.

This is a targeted incident and the general public is not in danger. The weapon used has not been recovered.
