Hamilton Police Make Arrest in Gerald Lawrence Homicide

Hamilton Police have arrested a male in connection with the death of Gerald Lawrence in September 2019.

On Sunday, September 29, 2019, Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedics responded to 555 Queenston Rd. E, Apt. 307 in Stoney Creek for a 911 call involving a person suffering from obvious traumatic injuries to his body.

It was later determined by a post mortem that 76-year-old Gerald Lawrence (known as Gerry) had been a victim of homicide and died as a result of stab wounds. At the time of the murder, a media release was conducted and limited information was provided. Investigators have spent the past year investigating Gerry’s murder.

Yesterday, just after 3:00 p.m., investigators from the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit and Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested 48-year-old Sandro De Oliveira of Hamilton for the murder of Gerry Lawrence. De Oliveira will appear later today at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton and will be charged with 2nd degree murder.
