Hamilton's 9th Homicide - 2018

Around 4.30pm on Friday December 7, 2018 a 911 call was received requesting medical assistance for a male who was suffering from a serious stab wound to the chest in the area of Kingfisher Drive and Upper Wentworth St, close to the McDonald’s restaurant.

Upon their arrival, police and EMS found a 17 year-old male suffering from a serious chest wound while a second male, aged 18, was also on scene and was found to be suffering from minor stab wounds to his upper body.

Both males were transported to hospital where the 17 year-old male was pronounced dead a short time later. The 18 year-old was treated in hospital and released.

The scene on Kingfisher Drive was maintained and a second scene was identified a few blocks away in the area of Pinewarbler Drive near Bruleville Park. Part of Pauline Johnson Public School was also roped off as the investigation continued.

The two victims attended the Pinewarbler Drive location in a white hatchback vehicle that belonged to one of their mothers. They were there to meet someone and this individual showed up with another male. An altercation then ensued as the four of them were seated in the car. This resulted with the two victims receiving stab wounds. A friend of the two victims arrived at the scene and assisted them as the two assailants ran away.

The third male drove away with the two victims intending on driving to the nearest hospital. As he reached the area of Kingfisher Drive and Upper Wentworth Street the driver realized how serious the injury was and called 911. He stopped the car and pulled his 17 year-old friend out of the vehicle and with the assistance of an off-duty firefighter and ex-military paramedic life saving measures were attempted.

The two suspects fled on foot and joined a third person who was the driver of a grey, 4 door, sedan which was parked on Bobolink Road at Bruleville Park. The vehicle then drove off westbound with the suspects.

The suspects are described as follows:

#1 – Male, white, heavy build, 220lbs -230lbs, late teens, dark longer hair in a bowl cut style. This person was wearing dark coloured track pants and hoodie.

#2 – Male, Asian looking, 6’0”, athletic build, 200lbs, dark hair in corn rows

#3 – Driver of the grey car. No other details at this time.

The name of the victim is being withheld until all next of kin are notified. An autopsy will be taking place later today at the Centre of Forensic Services in Toronto.
