Man Arrested After Gun Spotted in Restaurant

Hamilton Police have arrested a man after officers seized a loaded firearm during an investigation at an east Hamilton restaurant Thursday night.

On March 12, 2026, at approximately 9:14 p.m., police responded to a report of individuals believed to be in possession of a firearm inside a fast-food restaurant located on Centennial Parkway North. The report indicated the firearm had become visible while the male was inside the restaurant, causing concern among members of the public present.

Officers attended the restaurant and located two individuals matching the descriptions provided. Officers safely detained the pair and began a weapons investigation.

During a safety search of the male, officers located a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. The firearm, a Glock-style handgun with an extended magazine, contained 20 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

The male was arrested and the firearm, ammunition, and a cellular phone were seized as evidence.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse MURIE (19) has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm – Loaded
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with an Undertaking

At the time of his arrest, MURIE was bound by a court-ordered undertaking prohibiting him from possessing firearms, ammunition, or related devices.

A second individual was initially arrested during the investigation and later released unconditionally.

The firearm, magazine, and ammunition have been submitted for further forensic examination.

MURIE’s bail was opposed.

Hamilton Police continue to prioritize the removal of illegal firearms from the community. The presence of a loaded handgun in a public setting poses a significant risk to public safety. Officers remain committed to identifying individuals who unlawfully possess firearms and ensuring they are held accountable before the courts.
