Missing Hamilton Man Marcin Sydor Found Deceased; Death Ruled Homicide
Hamilton Police are investigating the homicide of 48-year-old Marcin SYDOR after his body was located on Friday, May 29, 2026, in the area of Pier 16 near 386 Wilcox Street.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded after receiving a report that a body had been located along the shoreline.
Officers attended and secured the area. With the assistance of the Hamilton Police Marine Unit, the body was recovered. Hamilton Police Forensic Services attended to process the scene.
The body was transported for a post-mortem examination, which has since been completed. The deceased was positively identified as Marcin SYDOR, a 48-year-old Hamilton man who had been reported missing to Hamilton Police on April 27, 2026.
The post-mortem examination determined that Marcin's death was the result of a homicide. The cause of death and details surrounding his injuries are not being released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Marcin's disappearance prompted an extensive missing person investigation. Investigators pursued numerous avenues in an effort to locate him after his absence was reported and quickly determined that his disappearance was out of character and inconsistent with his usual behaviour.
What began as a missing person investigation has now become a homicide investigation.
Hamilton Police extend condolences to Marcin's family and loved ones.
The Homicide Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding Marcin's death and identify those responsible.
Investigators are asking anyone who had contact with Marcin, observed him, or has information regarding his activities and movements prior to his death to contact police. Investigators are also seeking information regarding Marcin's black 2014 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows.
