Project Drag Strip 8

Hamilton Police are listening to community complaints in relation to excessive noise (mufflers), stunting and illegally modified vehicles. These vehicles have been violating several highway traffic offences and causing an overall nuisance to the general public. 

The target area of Highway 8 from Centennial Parkway to Fifty Road was the focus, however not limited to that area.

The project ran from September 25, 2020 to October 8, 2020.

Division 20 officers have conducted enforcement and active patrols looking for these driving behaviours. One driver was traveling 116km/h in a marked 60 km/h zone.

RESULTS

  • 233 Provincial Offence Notices
  • 6 Part 3 Summons for more serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act
  • 1 stunt related 7 day vehicle seizure
  • 27 were for improper mufflers
  • 9 for unnecessary noise
  • Remaining for speeding and various other traffic related offences
  • 2 fail to remain incidents
  • 1 Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle

Hamilton Police will continue to enforce complaint concerns in this area, as well as others throughout the city.
