Telephone Fraud Suspects Posing as Hamilton Police Officers

The Hamilton Police Service is investigating a telephone fraud incident in which suspects identified themselves as Hamilton Police officers.  The suspects were able to display the HPS non-emergency line ‘905-546-4925’ on the intended victim's phone.  The intended victim was then asked to attend a Hamilton Police station with cash to address a bogus fraud incident.  The public is advised HPS officers will not solicit cash in this manner.  If there is any doubt about the authenticity of a phone call from the Hamilton Police, the public is encouraged to attend the front desk of any Hamilton Police station and speak with a uniformed officer.

If anyone has information regarding this or similar incidents, they are encouraged to contact the Hamilton Police Financial Crimes Unit at 905-546-8932.

For those who wish to provide information anonymously, please consider reaching out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit your anonymous tips online at Crime Stoppers Hamilton's Website.
