Mother and son seriously injured in Fail to Remain collision

On Sunday July 10, 2022, at approximately 4:00 P.M., a 30-year-old Hamilton mother and her 10-year-old son were struck by an out of control motor vehicle that had been travelling southbound on Ottawa Street North near Dalhousie Ave. The vehicle left the roadway, mounted the curb and struck the pair as they were walking northbound on the sidewalk. The driver of the motor vehicle, a black 2008 Chevy Equinox ran from the scene prior to police arrival. Both were transported to hospital in serious life threatening condition.

Due to the severity of injuries, the Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated and is assisting the Division 2 Criminal Investigation Detectives.

Witness who have yet to speak with police are asked to contact the Division 2 CID at 905-546-2907.

Investigators have not been able to rule out any contributing factors.
