Arrest Made After Numerous Items Stolen from Local Cemetery

Hamilton Police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of dozens of bronze flower vases from a local cemetery.

Between April 17 and April 19, 2026, visitors to White Chapel Memorial Garden Cemetery located on Main Street West discovered that numerous bronze vases placed at the grave sites of loved ones had been removed. Following reports to police, investigators determined that approximately forty vases had been stolen.

Members of the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit immediately launched an investigation and quickly identified a suspect.

On May 13, 2026, investigators arrested Jason McIntosh, a 51-year-old Hamilton man, at his residence. He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime
  • Operation While Prohibited

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Hamilton Police have since recovered a number of the stolen items and look forward to returning them to the affected families.
