Driver Arrested in Overnight Double Fatal Collision

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, shortly before 11:00 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of John St South and Young Street in the downtown core. As a result of the collision, two male passengers in one of the vehicles succumbed to their injuries. The vehicle's driver also suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old Hamilton male, was arrested for impaired operation causing death and is currently awaiting a bail hearing.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the motor vehicle collision. The Special Investigations Unit has also invoked their mandate. The SIU media release is available here.

This is the City’s 17th and 18th traffic fatalities of the year.
