Driver succumbs to injury from collision 

On Saturday June 11, 2022, at approximately 7:30pm a 61-year-old Hamilton man was operating a 2003 Nissan sedan southbound on York Boulevard just past the high-level bridge in the City of Hamilton.  He then entered the northbound lanes and into the path of a 2008 Jeep Liberty.  The front driver side of the Nissan vehicle struck the rear drivers side of the Jeep vehicle that was being operated by a 30-year-old Hamilton male.  The Jeep vehicle sustained significant damage and came to rest along the east curb. 

The Nissan vehicle began to rotate counter-clockwise into the path of a 2022 Mercedes-Benz motor vehicle being driven by a 27-year-old man from the United States.  The front passenger door of the Nissan vehicle was struck by the entire front end of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle.  Both vehicles came to rest along the east curb.

The driver of Jeep vehicle was seen by paramedics and declined to attend the hospital.  Medics also saw the four occupants of the Mercedes-Benz motor vehicle and two female rear passengers were transported to hospital with minor injury.

The driver of the Nissan vehicle was removed by Fire and pronounced dead on scene.  The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was called and carried on with the investigation.

Impairment and Speed have not yet been ruled out as factors involved in this collision.  The road was closed for the investigation for approximately 6 hours.
