Male Arrested in Relation to Trail Sexual Assault

Hamilton Police have arrested a 38-year-old male from Hamilton in relation to a sexual assault that took place on a trail in the area of McMaster University.

On Saturday, September 3, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a male approached two adult females walking on Chegwin Trail. This male was unknown to the females.

The male spoke with the victims for a brief time before sexually assaulting them both. The victims managed to fight the suspect off and contacted police. 

As a result of cooperation between McMaster Security Services, Hamilton Police and members of the community, the male was located a short time later and arrested. 

Charged:  Micheal Smith, 38 years old from Hamilton

Charges:   Sexual Assault x 2
