Support Worker Arrested Following Financial Abuse of Senior
The Hamilton Police Service Crimes Against Seniors Unit has arrested a support worker following an investigation into the alleged financial exploitation of a vulnerable senior.
The accused had been employed as a support worker providing care to the 76-year-old victim. It is alleged that, over a two-year period, the accused unlawfully accessed the victim's bank account and withdrew funds without authorization, resulting in a total financial loss of $6,600.
On June 25, 2026, investigators arrested Carla Grandin, a 52-year-old female of Hamilton, and charged her with the following:
- Fraud Over $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Credit Card
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
She has been released from custody on an Undertaking with a future court appearance.
