Update: Driver Suffers Fatal Injuries in Three-Vehicle Collision

Hamilton Police have completed the investigation into a collision on Centennial Parkway in May 2021 that resulted in a fatality.

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, just after 5:30 p.m., Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedics responded to Centennial Parkway South near King Street in Hamilton for a three-vehicle collision. A 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was travelling northbound on Centennial Parkway when it struck the rear of a 2016 Kia Sonata vehicle, which subsequently hit a 2014 Jeep.

The 43-year-old male Chevrolet driver died because of the injuries sustained during the collision. From examination of the evidence, it was determined that his vehicle was traveling approximately 30 km/hr over the posted 60 km/hr speed limit and he was not wearing his seatbelt. Additionally, the Centre of Forensic Sciences determined the driver had drugs in his system at the time of death. This concentration of drugs may have impaired his ability to operate a vehicle safely.

Hamilton Police would like to remind the public about the dangers of impaired driving.
