Witness Involvement Leads to Arrest of Thief

A 48-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court today after witnesses assisted police with a theft investigation.

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, shortly before midnight, witnesses observed a damaged grey Honda Civic parked in the area of King Street East and Rosedale Avenue, Hamilton. At the time a male was rummaging through the cabin and then walked away with items from the vehicle. His picture was taken and one witness left to locate the owner.

Hamilton Police Service was notified of the incident and responded. Police viewed the picture and received information on his last known whereabouts. The suspect was located a couple of blocks away. He was arrested, searched and in possession of the items.

Police investigated his identity and confirmed he was bound by three probation orders which he was violating. He was informed of the charges related to the automobile and probation orders.

A 48-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court today to answer to several criminal charges.
