Labour Day Enforcement Initiative

Hamilton Police will be focusing their attention towards Distracted Driving and Speeding from August 31 to September 2, 2019.

Police conducted enforcement on the recent long-weekend and issued a total of 425 tickets during this three-day blitz. HPS would like to see these numbers decrease as a result of safer driving habits."Safe driving starts with you"

The “Labour Day Long Weekend” enforcement program incorporates high visibility of traffic enforcement in various areas of the city with strategic objectives towards public awareness and education is combined with the act of a professional traffic stop.

Resources will be directed towards identified areas of concern in each Division for the purpose of reducing or eliminating collisions and encouraging compliance with the basic rules of the road. Violators who engage in high-risk driving behaviours threaten the safety of all motorists. Hamilton Police are asking you to drive safely.

This Long-Weekend enforcement program will be viewed as part of the overall approach to traffic safety which supports the Hamilton Strategic Traffic Programs. The HPS is committed to Vision Zero, a shared vision with the City of Hamilton to reduce and eliminate fatalities and injuries on our roadways.
