Hamilton Police Continue to Deploy ATV Unit

Hamilton Police continue to deploy the police All-Terrain Vehicle Unit (ATV Unit) to identified areas of concern and assist with the increase in complaints and calls for service regarding Off Road Vehicles (ORVs), including “dirt bikes” and ATVs.

Hamilton Police will be out on the ATVs to patrol identified areas of concern, Hamilton Mountain, Ancaster, Flamborough, Binbrook, Glanbrook, Mount Hope, Dundas and Waterdown.

The goal is to ensure public safety, safety of those riding ORVs, and to enforce the law where applicable.

Under the current City of Hamilton By-Laws the operation of ORVs on City of Hamilton roadways is prohibited.  There are exemptions for farmers, public works employees, and land owners travelling between portions of their own property.

Please ask permission prior to riding your ORV on someone else’s property and always be respectful of property owners and other riders.

If you have any further questions please contact Hamilton Police Division Three Crime Managers office at 905-546-2447 or attend 400 Rymal Road East to pick up your ORV pamphlet.

If you have information that you would like to report regarding ATV use please contact Hamilton Police Division Three Crime Managers at 905-546-2447, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-522-8477 or City of Hamilton By-Law 905-546-2782 or [email protected].
