On Friday October 13th, 2023, shortly before 10:00 PM, a 23-year-old male was walking eastbound on Cannon Street near Belview Ave in the City of Hamilton when he attempted to cross the street. At the same time a Honda CRV was travelling westbound on Cannon Street.

The pedestrian crossed in front of the vehicle.  The vehicle then collided with the pedestrian.

The male was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Due to the severity of the injuries he HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. Any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the collision or drivers who may have dashcam footage are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753.
