Class is Back in Session for Citizens’ Police College

Hamilton Police has now opened registration for this fall’s Citizens’ Police College. The popular program will host classes on a variety of policing topics.

Classes start Tuesday, October 1, 2019, and run every Tuesday for six consecutive weeks. Each class runs from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., and is held at the Multi-Agency Training Centre, 1227 Stone Church Road East, 2nd Floor in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police is one of the first police services in Ontario to offer this type of program to its community members. Thousands of citizens have participated since Citizens’ Police College opened its doors in 1997.

Citizens’ Police College is designed for any individual interested in learning about policing. Enrolment is free, but the class size for the popular program is limited to a first to register basis. The program is offered to individuals 18-years of age and older, who reside in Hamilton or are engaged in full-time studies within the City.

Registrants are required to complete two forms. One form requires participants to attend the Central Police Station, Records Department at 155 King William Street during normal weekday business hours. The Records Department requires each applicant to present two pieces of acceptable identification.

Topics include, but are not limited to, Traffic Safety, Vice & Drugs, Forensics, Victim Services, Homicide, K-9 and the Mounted Patrol Unit.
